The island of God is well known for its diverse culture and fascinating tradition. In Bali, Puri is the name for the residence of nobles, especially those who are still close relatives to the kings.

Based on the Triwangsa division system, Puri or Palace was occupied by nobles from the knight's dynasty. Etymologically, the word puri actually comes from the word Sanskrit namely PUR, PURI, PURA, PURAM. Puri which means fortified cities or cities with a castle. One of them is Puri Agung Jro Kuta, located in the western part of Denpasar city, is about 1 km from the city center, located on Sutomo street No. 38.

Puri Agung Jro Kuta was founded by Dewa Gede Jambe Badung, about 1820 before Century. With title Kyai Agung Gede Jro Kuta Kahuningan.

The family of Puri Agung Jro Kuta is the direct descendant of Puri Klungkung, specifically Dewa Agung Kusamba who was the King of Klungkung.

The layout or zone of Puri Agung Jro Kuta still arranged as it first built until now. In the courtyard of Puri Agung Jro Kuta, there are four great gates. In royal terms, it was called Nyatur Singa means four different locations in one place.

The first area is Jaba Ancak Saji located in the southwest of the Palace and is usually used to prepare before entering the palace, then followed by Jaba Tengah, Jaba Tandeg, Saren Agung (king's living room), Suci, and the last is Merajan Agung as a place to worship to Almighty God.

The other activity of Puri Agung Jro Kuta is Weaving tradition that still maintained until now. Although the products they made is very far from the industrial and modern machinery, this tradition is still preserved.

Maintaining local culture and wisdom is a hallmark of Puri Agung Jro Kuta, as evidence, artisans still using traditional wooden looms that are almost decades old.
